What Do You Call The World’s Best BBQ?
For the past 17 years, the U.S. barbeque champs to beat have gone by the name Oklahoma Joe’s (or Okie Joe’s for us locals). But the odd thing all along has been their name, since the restaurant which only operates out of Kansas City has carried a name that gave credit to a past they clearly hoped to move away from.
This morning, Oklahoma’s Joe’s announced that it has changed its name in an effort to sever ties with the Tulsa barbecue operation it split off from 17 years ago — and that still owned the name. So the best barbeque in the world is now officially called Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que.
Anthony Bourdain proclaimed this one of the 13 places to eat at before you die. If that’s not enough to convince you of its barbeque mastery, consider the fact that it has received the #1 Zagat rating for ten consecutive years. Or, just take our word for it, because their full slab of ribs and seasoned fries can be included among the many reasons we made our move back to KC this month.
