Brussels Express: How Cycling Can Impact a City
I, like many others (but not nearly enough) enjoy cycling. Many European cities are known for their exceptional bicycle-friendly infrastructure and extensive bike sub-cultures. In contrast, enter Brussels. A city that only sees 4% of its commuting populace on bicycles (compared to around 20 or 25% for some northern European cities). This beautifully shot and scored documentary short Brussels Express explores what it’s like to be a bicycle messenger making a living in the most congested city in Europe, while also subtly revealing the harsh realities of urban societies that find themselves overly dependent on motorized transportation.
